Hotel de Rome, a Rocco Forte hotel, housed in the restored former headquarters of the Dresdner Bank of 1889, is unique in its combination of listed architecture and contemporary design, coupled with the highest level of comfort and personal Rocco Forte service. The Hotel de Rome is part of "The Leading Hotels of the World". It is the first and only hotel in Berlin to be awarded the full five stars by Forbes Travel Guide 2022. Built in 1889 as the Dresdner Bank headquarters, it changed into the State Bank of the GDR after 1945 when the area became the soviet sector. This bank was dissolved when the Wall fell in 1989. When the former bank building was renovated and converted in 2003, great efforts were made to preserve traces of its past as authentically as possible. The spa, for example, is located in the former jewellery vault, the historic suites were once the bank directors’ offices, and the bank’s main hall is now a spectacular ballroom.
