Cherbourg, one of France’s great Channel ports, is closely linked to French naval history, and to transatlantic adventures  the Titanic even made its final stop here on its fateful journey, as recalled at the Cité de la Mer, one of the port’s main tourist attractions. Departing the pier, your journey takes you on a scenic drive along seaside roads and through charming villages. The landscape is quite contrasted, fine sand dunes alternate with rugged stony blocs and impressive cliffs. Continue to Port Racine, reputed to be smallest port in France. It has an area of just 800m2 and an entrance between two jetties that is just eleven meters wide.
