A Family Reunion for Every Season

After so long of being apart, reunions with our loved ones feel sweeter than ever. Perhaps you're considering marking the occasion with a celebratory family trip, during which both young and old can spend quality time together and explore a new place (a novelty unto itself these days).

If so, we've got four destinations - one for every season - that are fun and engaging for any generation, as well as hotels that will go above and beyond for your whole group. Here's where (and when) to enjoy some ultimate family reunions:

SPRING

Join Midwesterners as they happily emerge from winter into a city full of blooming tulips and warmer weather. Chicago is undoubtedly one of America's most family-friendly cities, and a stay at The Peninsula Chicago will place you at the center of the action. Junior guests are welcomed with chocolate chip cookies, popcorn and gummy bears, then treated to a variety of other fun amenities during their stay.

When you're ready to start adventuring, there are plenty of sights within walking distance or a short drive of the hotel. Take the whole family to a game at Wrigley Field (Chicago-style hot dogs obligatory!) or head to nearby Navy Pier for both the Chicago Children's Museum and Centennial Wheel. You'll want to take a picture (or 100) at Cloudgate in Millennium Park, and every member of the family will marvel at the natural wonders within the Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium. Traveling with older kids? They can easily join their Mies-loving elders on an architecture boat tour along the river, while the younger ones will be quickly engaged by the children's programming at the Chicago Architecture Center.

SUMMER

Summer is a great time to visit "America's Walking City," and even better when you set up camp at the centrally-located Fairmont Copley Plaza. There you'll be greeted by the hotel's official ambassador: a black Labrador retriever named Cori Copley.

Amongst its many offerings, Boston has a plethora of learning opportunities for every age. The Harvard Museum of Natural History, for example, houses 12,000 specimens selected from the university's research collections; kids, parents and grandparents can marvel over the meteors, dinosaur fossils and animals on display, then enjoy a walk through the grounds of this historic institution. Further east, the Boston Children's Museum also provides plenty of outstanding interactive exhibits for younger kiddos.

When you're ready to explore outside, head out on a whale watching tour to see migrating humpbacks - a true thrill for any age - or visit a regional historic site like Fort Independence on Castle Island.

Finally, Walden Pond is just a half hour away when a summer cool-off is needed. This quaint swimming hole will satisfy the kids' need to splash around, as well as your family's resident Thoreau-lover who's been itching to see a replica of the writer's small cabin.

FALL

Paris is breathtaking at any time of year, but there's a special magic to it in the fall. Busy summer crowds have dispersed, the weather is cooler but lovely and brilliant autumn colors transform the city's streets and gardens.

From its central location near the Arc de Triomphe, The Peninsula Paris is ready to host your whole family. They offer a program called The Peninsula Kids' Academy, which includes both activities and an app that comes in handy as you tour the city.

First and foremost, you'll want to get out and enjoy some of the French capital's outstanding public gardens. Dedicated to the city's children by Napole?on in the 19th century, the 23-hectare Jardin du Luxembourg is one of the most iconic; kids can guide 1920s sailboats around the pond, go for a pony ride or have a spin on the park carousel, the oldest in the city. For the family's aspiring bakers, La Cuisine Paris offers pastry lessons from their handsome 17th-century former home on the Seine. Public classes welcome kids thirteen and older who are accompanied by adults, and private classes can be arranged for groups with younger children.

No trip to Paris would be complete without at least one visit to a museum, and they've got the kids covered, too. The highly-engaging Louvre Kids app turns the Muse?e du Louvre into a story-filled treasure hunt, while the Kids Gallery and Studio at the renowned Centre Pompidou ensures you'll have fun "sharing a moment of creativity as a family" in addition to seeing their many exhibits.

WINTER

Is everyone in the family onboard for an epic adventure? Then it's time for Dubai! This sunny destination is perfect for a winter getaway, and you may be surprised to learn it's incredibly family-friendly.

Have your travel advisor book you into Habtoor Palace Dubai, a grand urban resort with a Kids Club that offers plenty of fun activities. The hotel also spoils you for choice with access to twenty-two restaurants and lounges, a number of chic pools and the most popular show in Dubai - Le Perle by Dragone.

As for how to fill your time, the hardest part is deciding where to start! For a full day of entertainment and rides, begin at IMG Worlds of Adventure, Dubai's largest indoor theme park. It's the size of twenty-eight football fields, and since there's an entire zone dedicated to MARVEL, it's hard to know who will be more excited - the kids or adults. There's also the wildly popular LEGOLAND, Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, Wild Wadi Waterpark for those extra-hot days, and a Museum of Illusion that's bound to induce more than one wide-eyed stare.

When you're ready for a bird's eye view of this captivating city, head to the tallest building in both Dubai and the world: the Burj Khalifa. Topping out at 2,716.5 feet and 162 stories high, kids (and adults) who love a good fact will be enthralled by this wonder of architecture. Not only is it nearly the height of three Eiffel Towers, but it holds seven world records, including "highest observation deck" and "elevator with the longest travel distance" on earth.

Finally, be sure to have your camera ready for a stroll through the sweet-smelling Dubai Miracle Garden, where more than 150 million flowers bloom in what's basically the floral equivalent of Disneyland.
